Filicudi WildLife Conservation focuses on the study and conservation of the marine resources of the Aeolian Archipelago, particularly the populations of cetaceans ( bottlenose dolphins, striped dolphin , sperm whale ) and sea turtles. In addition to their research activities, they run a Sea Turtle First Aid programme, educational programmes, and ecotourism initiatives.

The Cetacea Foundation is committed to protect the marine ecosystem, especially the Adriatic sea, through activities of education and conservation. It uses the valuable contribution of biologists, veterinarians, scientists and volunteers. It is active in the rescue of animals in need, especially sea turtles and cetaceans, with an important rescue center for marine turtles in the Adriatic. In addition the foundation works to educate students and collaborates with public institutions and associations in projects regarding education for sustainable living, respect and preservation of the marine environment. The foundation has carried out research mainly on large marine vertebrates (cetaceans, turtles and sharks), in association with research institutes.

For the Oceans Foundation is a community-based organization focused on improving their environment, including the oceans. They organize fundraisers, community-building events, and in-depth training sessions for volunteers engaged in the projects. The projects include the following: Ambassadors for the Ocean which promotes the protection of the Eastern Pacific’s Marine Biological Corridor in the areas between Coco´s Island and Thermal Dome (Costa Rica), Coiba Island (Panama), Malpelo Island (Colombia) and the Galapagos Archipelago (Ecuador) – for this their partner NGO the Ocean Voyages Institute is providing our first vessel; Removal of plastic waste and ghost nets from the ocean; Responsible tourism and sustainable fishing; and combatting the consumption of sea turtle eggs.

The Pró-Tamar Foundation focuses on the conservation of marine species in Brazil. The work of the FPT teams aims to recover the populations of four species of sea turtles: olive, hawksbill, loggerhead and leatherback turtles, in addition to the green turtle in Fernando de Noronha (PE) and Trindade (ES). They have been operating on the Brazilian coast since the 1980s with the mission of promoting the recovery of sea turtles, developing research, conservation and inclusion activities. the social. Under the provisions of a Co-management agreement with the Forest Conservation Institute, the Foundation executes the management of the Protected Area. They are a member of the WIDECAST network.

Green Heritage Fund Suriname Dolphin Project

The Green Heritage Fund Suriname works for the protection of the wild dolphin population through establishment and maintenance of a sound community monitoring program that contributes to decision-making regarding the estuary of the Suriname River. Working on the conservation of dolphins in the estuary inspired GHFS to expand its conservation efforts to include the marine environment in its entirety. This shift in focus inspired the organization to work towards sustainable use and management of the marine environment, which ultimately motivated the GHFS initiate or promote the use of marine spatial planning in Suriname. Addressing marine litter is also an important focus of the organization.
Guyana Marine Conservation Society

The Guyana Marine Conservation Society (GMCS) was established with the primary mission of ensuring the future existence and population recovery of all the four species of marine turtles known to nest in Guyana, while addressing the needs of the communities. including engagement of the indigenous communities in alternative income projects to reduce their dependency on harvesting of sea turtle meat and eggs. GMCS is involved in the tagging and monitoring of the nesting marine turtles and awareness campaigns which has played a major role in the declaration of Shell Beach as a Protected Area. Legislation now governs the illegal take of all the endangered species from within that area and persons caught in illegal acts will face the consequences of the law. Other aspects of GMCS thematic areas of work include biodiversity surveys, community outreach, and the design and delivery of environmental education and awareness programs.

The HWF Team is made up of educators, conservationists, researchers, naturalists, communities, volunteers and donors devoted to the protection of Hawaii's fragile marine ecosystem and inhabitants.
Institute of Biodiversity and Protected Areas of Guinea-Bissau

Amongst other functions, the IBAP is responsible for the conservation of sea turtles in Guinea-Bissau, through the Department of Biodiversity Monitoring and Conservation, and through the management of Protected Areas. Conservation actions include protection of critical habitats for sea turtle nesting and foraging, marine surveillance for illegal activities, development of Marine Turtle Action Plans. Their approach is to achieve biodiversity protection and sustainable use of resources by local communities.
