For specific species, such as Turtles, Cetaceans, or Corals, and for specialised areas, such as Marine Pollution or Marine Research, go to the specific categories on the Conservation base page.
Conservacion Internacional (Ecuador)
Ecuador
International Conservation Ecuador has been working for 20 years for the conservation of natural ecosystems and services to ensure the human well-being of current and future generations. Their marine programmes include protection of the ocean while innovating new ways to sustain marine fisheries. Together with the Ministry of the Environment and Water in Ecuador, this involves promoting the effective management of marine and coastal protected areas, the conservation of mangroves and the management of coastal fisheries.
Conservation Council of Western Australia
Australia
CCWA represents more than 100 environmental organisations across Western Australia, acting as an advocate for conservation since 1967, working directly with the government, media, industry, community groups, and political parties to promote a more sustainable WA and to protect our natural environment. This includes the coastline and marine areas, and issues that potentially will impact on the marine life environment, including pollution control, and includes supporting campaigns such as Protect Ningaloo Reef, and creating new National Parks and Marine Sanctuaries.
Conservation Gateway
USA
The Conservation Gateway is an initiative of The Nature Conservancy (TNC) aimed at the conservation practitioner, scientist and decision-maker. In the Gateway, TNC shares the up-to-date information they use to inform their work. The Gateway is organised in three major sections: Conservation Planning, Conservation Practice, and Conservation by Geography.
Conservation International
USA, International
CI applies innovations in science, economics, policy and community participation to protect the Earth's plant and animal biodiversity in major tropical wilderness areas and key marine ecosystems. CI focuses on securing the critical benefits that nature provides to humanity, such as food, fresh water, livelihoods and a stable climate. An important aspect of CI's work is promoting the dissemination of critical marine information to the global community, in order to 'unify international marine stakeholders through knowledge sharing and information exchange'. Their Center for Oceans partners with communities, organizations and governments around the world.
Conservation International Brazil
Brazil
Conservation International Brazil is part of a global organization that works to protect the environment and promote sustainable development. They have a presence in Brazil and have worked on marine conservation initiatives in the country, including the aim expand Brazil's marine and coastal protected areas, while creating ways to make artisanal fisheries more sustainable. This is achieved by encouraging monitoring and inclusion of coastal ecosystems in environmental policies and promoting better fishing practices.
Conservation International Ventures
USA
CI Ventures is an investment fund that provides loans to small- and medium-sized enterprises that operate in the forests, oceans and grasslands where Conservation International works. The fund’s capital supports enterprises that will generate profit, which helps to pay off the loans, thus returning principal and interest to the fund that can be used to make future investments, thus creating a revolving fund in support of conservation worldwide. Coral Cay Conservation
UK
Since 1986 Coral Cay Conservation has worked in 14 countries, on over 17 projects, and are internationally awarded for their achievements in environmental conservation. They have a field base in Egypt. Operating in Asia, Central America, and Africa, one of their many initiatives was the Southern Leyte Coral Reef Conservation Project in Philippines (2002-2020). They facilitate volunteer work on projects globally.
Coral Reef Care
Netherlands
Coral Reef Care (CRC) focuses on the conservation and protection of marine ecosystems, in particular coral reefs, by initiating and organising reef conservation projects and creating public awareness on the importance of coral reefs. This involves, amongst others, the restoration of damaged reefs, removal of lost fishing nets on coral reefs, campaigns to reduce plastic waste, creation of artificial reefs, creation of No Take Zones and the protection of specific marine species. Taking the approach that effective conservation projects must involve local communities, they generate jobs for local communities in the conservation business. One of Coral Reef Care’s main goals is to set up more MPAs (Marine Protected Areas). They have projects in several places Asia and Africa, including Bali, Indonesia, Maziwe Island in Tanzania, and Kinuni near Vipingo in Kenya. . In addition, they have a initiated a project which focuses on shark and ray protection, specifically in South and Mid Kenya and carried out with Cordio East Africa in Mombasa. To their current target groups, i.e. school kids and fishermen, they explain the importance of these magnificent species, their crucial role in the ecosystem, threats to their existence, and the solutions to protect them.
Coral Triangle Initiative on coral reefs, fisheries and food security CTI-CFF
Indonesia
Coral Triangle Initiative (CTI-CFF) is a multilateral partnership of six countries working together to sustain extraordinary marine and coastal resources by addressing crucial issues such as food security, climate change and marine biodiversity. The countries involved are Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Solomon Islands and Timor Leste
Coralive.org
Switzerland

They have developed a method to accelerate coral growth and enhance coral resiliency via mineral accretion technology. Their coral restoration projects are active in Jamaica, Madagascar, Kenya, Seychelles, Maldives and Philippines. Seagrass and mangroves are also in their sights, with replantings and transplanting projects underway in places such as the Maldives. They are also involved in MPA management in Madagascar.
